The 2012 Annual Dinner will be held on Friday 11 May in the evening at a place and time to be announced shortly.

We are delighted to announce that the speaker for the dinner is Professor Ian Harper. Ian has worked closely with governments, banks, large corporations and leading professional services firms at the highest level. He is now a director of Access Economics.

His book 'Economics for Life' won the 2011 Australian Christian Book of the Year award. In that book he reflects on the meaning of life, money and what really matters. At a time of world economic uncertainty it will be fascinating to hear Ian speak at the dinner. The title of his talk will be also be announced shortly.

Preachers often face the prospect of preaching at a variety of occasions that can be deemed 'special' in some way, perhaps because of the occasion itself or the make-up of the particular audience. The regular Christian festivals of Christmas, Easter and Pentecost are examples of these, as are hte pastoral services of baptism, weddings and funerals that arise irregularly, sometimes frequently and with little warning. Then there are the 'one-off' special occasions such as a time of national tragedy or an Annual General Meeting of an organisation. Each occasion has its particular challenges and the preacher must be attuned to the subtleties that need to be attended to in each.
