Preaching with honesty and passion with Hugh Begbie

Note rescheduled date: Wednesday 28th April at 7pm.

The Rev’d Dr Hugh Begbie will lead a seminar/discussion for preachers and teachers of the Word: Preaching with honesty and passion.

Hugh writes:

“One of the most humbling thoughts we can have as a preacher is to contemplate just how often we day dream or tune out when we are listening to other preachers or bible teachers. This statement may be seen just as a personal confession on my part, which indeed it is, but I suspect we all know the experience of feeling the eyelid closing weight of ecclesiastical boredom. There is another problem too. Some sermons seem unreal, or downright annoying and we wonder why. I don’t profess to have all the answers, but I have a few key thoughts to contribute and want them to be a basis for open and honest sharing and reflection, including the right to totally disagree with the view that I have come to over many years and through much pain. I would love you to join me as we ask ourselves whether or not there are things we can do better to increase the integrity and inspirational power of our preaching and teaching.”
