Join Ridley College Melbourne for the Charles Perry Lecture on 21 Sept 2023 on the topic of God, Menzies and Christian Public Engagement by David Furse-Roberts.

This free lecture will highlight the evangelical formation of Sir Robert Menzies, Australia's longest serving Prime Minister, and explain how this Christian formation impacted Menzies's public engagement in Melbourne and beyond.

David Furse-Roberts is a Research Fellow at the Menzies Research Centre and works for a Member of the NSW Parliament. He is the author of God & Menzies (2021) & The Making of a Tory Evangelical (2019). He is also the editor of Menzies in his own Words (2020), Abbott: The Defining Speeches (2019), Howard: The Art of Persuasion (2018) & Menzies: The Forgotten Speeches (2017).

David has written opinion pieces and articles for Quadrant, ABC Religion & Ethics, Eternity News, Spectator Australia and Lucas: An Evangelical History Review. David holds a PhD in History from The University of New South Wales and completed part of his candidature at the University of Edinburgh in the UK. He has presented papers at history conferences in Australia, the UK and the US. David enjoys reading, writing, cycling, bushwalking and quality time with family and friends.

There is an online streaming option as well as in-person attendance. This is part of the Ridley Public Lecture Series that has been well-received in the past.
