The Rev’d Dr Hugh Begbie lead a seminar on 28th April 2021 for preachers and teachers of the Word: Preaching with honesty and passion.

Our first seminar for 2021 was given by Rev’d Dr Samuel Goh on 24th February 2021.

His lecture focused on the key theme of Ecclesiastes, i.e. Vapour (traditionally translated “Vanity”), and how the Preacher explores the value of knowledge (plus education) through the prism of the theme.

The Mathew Hale Public Library held a brief Thanksgiving Service to reflect on 2020 and pray for the future of the library in 2021 and beyond. During the service Hugh Begbie introduced and interviewed Dan Patterson our new consultant.

ABC recently published an opinion piece written by Dr Mark Stephens, Senior Research Fellow at the Centre for Public Christianity reflecting on Tom Holland's recent book "Dominion: The Making of the Western Mind".

On Friday 10 May we held the Mathew Hale Public Library annual dinner.  Over 90 people attended this event to engage in fellowship with fellow believers committed to the promoting of Biblical teaching in the Anglican Diocese of Southern Queensland. One of the most radical verses in the bible, one that changed the course of history but now forgotten is Genesis 1:27 which says: “God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them.” In January my daughter-in-law lost the baby in her womb. It was 21 weeks old. He was given the name Matthias Peter Begbie. It may seem a strange question for us, but in our strange new world it is a significant to ask, was this embryo human?
